Getting your PDC

Eligibility for a PDC

Any Virginia Tech employee with an Enterprise Directory affiliation of vt-employee-state, vt-employee-wage or vt-student-wage is eligible for a personal digital certificate. See  http://answers.vt.edu/kb/entry/2430/ to check affiliations.

The Student Network Services Office will process eToken requests during the following hours or call for an appointment.

NOTE: Due to Freshman Orientation, the issuance of eTokens will take place only on Mondays or by appointment the entire month of July. Please contact the Student Network Services office for additional information 231-3000 or to schedule your appointment. Our regular schedule of Monday, Wednesday and Thursday (2:00pm-4:30pm) will resume effective August 3rd, 2009.

Dates Time Place Organization Members
Every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 2:00 to 4:30 PM 120 Student Services Building, Student Network Services Office Open enrollment and password resets.

 

You will need to:

  • Bring your Hokie Passport card.
  • Bring one other government-issued photo identification.
    • Examples include drivers’ licenses, passports, military ID cards. If you have questions about the second ID, contact Student Network Services 540/231-3000.
  • Prepare your password.
    • To use your personal digital certificate, you will need a strong password. Review recommendations on Creating Strong Passwords Web page.
    • The password you create must meet the following requirements:
      • Your password must be at least 8 characters long
      • Your password must contain at least THREE of these four types of characters:
        • Numbers: 0-9
        • Uppercase English Letters A-Z
        • Lowercase English Letters a-z
        • Special Characters ~!@#$%^&*()_+`-{[|\;'./:"<>?
      • You may not use the characters }] or =
  • Review the Usage Agreement
    • To receive your PDC, you will be required to sign the Usage Agreement. Please review this agreement in advance. Usage Agreement
